Sheet Metal Worker

Sheet Metal Worker

Sheet metal workers fabricate and install ducts used in heating, ventilation and air conditioning. They also fabricate and install products made from galvanized metals and used in siding, metal decks, paint ovens, spray booths, gutters, flashing, and dust collecting systems. Sheet metal workers also weld stainless steel, aluminum and black iron used in column guards, conveyors, blow-pipe systems and spouts. The food service and hospital equipment industries rely on sheet metal workers to fabricate and install sheet metal products as well.

Apprenticeship—4 years, including 4 periods of in-school training. Upon successful completion, sheet metal workers receive a provincial Certificate of Apprenticeship, a provincial Certificate of Qualification and the inter-provincial Standard Examination (Red Seal) endorsement.
