Roofer

Roofers build or lay insulation and vapour retardants on built-up or flat-deck roofs. They also lay covering on roof frames using materials such as tile, slate, composite, wood, shakes and shingles. They also apply roof and deck waterproofing with modern plastic and rubberized coating materials. They know the techniques for handling their specialized products, including but not limited to torch-on membranes, asphalt shingles, concrete tiles and slate.

Apprenticeship - 3 years, including 3 periods of in-school training. Upon successful completion, roofers receive a Certificate of Apprenticeship and a provincial Certificate of Qualification and the inter-provincial Standard Examination (Red Seal) endorsement.
