Insulator
Insulators apply various insulating materials to hot and cold surfaces. Pipes, steam generators, ducts, process vats and related equipment
are covered to reduce loss or absorption of heat, prevent moisture condensation and deaden sound. Insulators, working with a partner or by
themselves, insulate plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems at power and chemical plants, pulp mills, heavy manufacturing or
processing installations, schools, churches, apartments, shopping centres, ice rinks, hospitals, boats and high rises.
Apprenticeship—4 years of work experience including 4 periods of in-school training. Upon successful completion, insulators receive a
provincial Certificate of Apprenticeship, a provincial Certificate of Qualification and the inter-provincial Standard Examination
(Red Seal) endorsement.
