Labourer

Labourer

Labourers do a wide variety of jobs in the construction industry and constitute a significant proportion of the workforce on every construction site. The joint management/union Construction and Specialized Workers’ (Labourers’) Training Society was established in 1967. It trains between 500 and 1,000 members annually in surveying, rigging, concrete placement, forklift operation, fall protection, confined space entry, gas testing, traffic control, lane closure and flagging, high scaling, respirator use, first aid and mine rescue.

Members also have access to the international union’s training sites in other centres in North America, such as Nevada’s mining and tunneling course and Michigan’s raker training program.
