Why we need CITI
B.C.’s construction industry is booming. We are facing a shortage of skilled workers in many trades working in the
residential, industrial, commercial and institutional sectors. Growth in construction employment will be 50% higher in 2013 than it was in 2001.

This situation provides an opportunity to offer training in a timely fashion and good, high-paying jobs to a new generation of workers—including women, new Canadians and First Nations people.
The Construction Industry Training Institute will coordinate, promote and support unionized training programs to meet the demands of the construction industry.
